Montana Engels

Montana Engels is a contemporary Belgian artist known for inventing a distinctive “striped” technique for portraiture. Using only hand-painted lines, she creates works that appear abstract up close but become strikingly realistic from a distance.
She studied at the Antwerp International School, where she discovered her talent for portraiture, won the IB Art Award in 2011, held her first exhibition, and graduated with a perfect score in Fine Arts. She later continued her studies in Art History and Marketing at IESA in Paris while developing her artistic practice.
Her signature striped style relies on variations of line, light, and shadow, with each stroke carefully considered in relation to the next. This unique approach has become the hallmark of her work.
